Highest biocompatibility for LINK prostheses

LINK implants are processed, with only the purest materials that are far beyond national and international norm requirements. Thus only highly biocompatible materials with excellent corrosion-resistance and optimal physical properties enter production.

Cobalt-Chromium-Molybdenum alloys (CoCrMo) or Titanium alloys (Tilastan®) are used in the metal components.

CoCrMo – Alloy

Cobalt-Chromium-Molybdenum alloys have been used for about sixty years in hip endoprosthetics. They not only possess good mechanical properties and high tribological quality but also meet the fiercest demands on corrosion-resistance and biocompatibility. CoCrMo alloys for LINK implants are certified according to ISO 5832/4.

BIOLOX® Ceramic

Prosthetic heads and cup inserts of this extremely wear-resistant high-performance ceramic material feature minimum material abrasion and excellent biocompatibility. They reduce the risk of osteolysis and the accompanying risk of early revision.

BIOLOX® delta* demonstrates even better stability than BIOLOX® forte*. This zirconium oxide-hardened, plate-strengthened aluminum oxide ceramic does not age and is classified as bioinert. It has the wear properties and stability of aluminum oxide with clearly improved material stability and strength. BIOLOX® delta contains approximately 74% aluminum oxide and 25% zirconium oxide.

UHMWPE and X-LINKed® Polyethylene

Synthetic components are made from ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and are specifically suited for use in the human body. Here LINK gives special attention to wear, material strength and oxidation. Use of X-LINKed® polyethylene, a highly cross-linked UHMWPE, which can substantially reduce the wear and extend the life of implant components, is new.

HX® and TiCaP® Coatings

Special focus is on innovative, microfine coatings, which promote rapid ingrowth of bone into the surface structure of the prosthesis, and thus lead to long-term anchoring. Proven bioconductive HX® calcium phosphate coatings are used, or TiCaP®, made from highly porous titanium and calcium phosphate in a double layer.
