LINK® MP® Reconstruction Prosthesis

Modular, cementless and cemented prosthesis for hip joint revision

System Description

The MP® reconstruction prosthesis is designed for the replacement of loosened hip prostheses with extensive proximal femoral defects, which no longer permit implantation of standard prostheses.

The different prosthesis components form a modular system consisting of a prosthetic head, stem, tapered neck segment, spacers for equalizing leg length and an expansion bolt. It allows optimal adaptation to the patient's anatomical requirements, such as correction of leg length, lateralization of the leg, and adjustment for correct anteversion.

Non-cemented distal anchoring of the tapered stem made from Tilastan® (titanium alloy) promotes bone regeneration in the proximal femur where there is sufficient soft tissue coverage.

The MP® reconstruction prosthesis is also obtainable as a cemented version.

MP® Product Features

  • Distal, cementless stem anchoring

  • Tapered stem shape ensures reliable anchoring

  • Longitudinal fluting provides rotational stability at the distal stem

  • 3° angle in the upper stem segment facilitates implantation and resists rotational forces

  • The micro porous or HX® (calcium phosphate) coated surface promotes bone ongrowth

  • Various modular neck components provide for lateralization plus correct anteversion, and are intraoperative

  • Spacers allow correction of leg length up to 30 mm, also are intraoperative

  • Prosthetic heads from cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy or BIOLOX® forte and BIOLOX® delta* ceramic in different diameters

  • Simple implantation technique with "Step-by-Step" instrument set

  • The modular connection of the MP® is located much more proximal, where there is less strain on the connection, avoiding potential fatigue fractures associated with mid-stem morse taper connection designs.
